August/Back to School Winners
Down South and like most of America, we resume school in August, during the “dog days” of summer. The sun is shining down on full power and the humidity is as thick as a fudge brownie (though a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream always makes it better to tolerate!). By trade, I am a school-based speech language pathologist. This school year will be my 10th believe it or not! Below are 4 of my “winners” for making sure I stay hydrated, cool and protected in the sun as we kick off the school year!
1. Stanley 40oz Stainless Steel H2.0 Flowstate Quencher Tumbler
Yes, I know, I jumped on the Stanley cup bandwagon back in the winter, but those that know me know I’m a sucker for things in pretty colors and they make a variety of them! I’ve also discovered that I drink more water when I’m drinking from a straw. During the school year, I use my voice more during the day than I normally do when I’m at home relaxing during the summer. Keeping my vocal folds plenty hydrated is a must, so I keep my Stanley on hand! This cup color in particular is called “Serene Green” and is featured in the collaboration with Hearth & Hand ™ with Magnolia (for my Fixer Upper/ Magnolia Network fans) and Target. But Stanley’s can be purchased at other stores (Dicks Sporting, Academy Sports etc.).
2. Magnolia Flower Magnet (Pictured on Stanley Tumbler)
Growing up, I had to adorn my belongings with stickers. Folders, pencil boxes, calculators, you name it! It just made items that belonged to me feel more personal and dressed up. The REAL REAL reason I jumped on the Stanley cup bandwagon was because of these magnets! I stumbled across them on an Instagram page called “Stylin Brunette” in which the creator was advertising magnets for sale to “dress up” your Stanley or Yeti cups. I was hooked!!!! Not only were the magnets removable, unlike a permanent sticker, but I could also change them out depending on the season or my mood! I just grab one or two off my refrigerator in the AM and I’m out the door!

3. Scunci Claw Hair Clips
Remember that fudge brownie thick humidity I wrote about in the introduction? Well, this is where these hair clips come in handy for me. The dog days of summer make me instantly sweat once I step foot outside, so I tend to wear my hair off my neck and out of my face more at the beginning of the school year. These hair claws come in some of my favorite colors and a variety of sizes for different hair lengths. Here’s the link for the ones I have pictured above.

4. Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor Broad Spectrum Mineral SPF 30 Sunscreen Moisturizer
I’ve been using this moisturizer daily for 2 years and it is my absolute favorite! It makes my skin feel soft, layers beautifully under my foundation, doesn’t cause me any breakouts, and has SPF 30, which I need and probably more when I must stand outside to help the car riders’ departure from school safely!
